New Year Resolutions – yay or nay?

Hello New Year,

I always appreciate this time of reflection and renewal. It’s a chance to hit pause, ponder, and maybe adjust a few things. As for me, no grand resolutions here, just a quiet plan for the year ahead, but definitely a plan.

Let’s be honest – my track record with New Year plans is a bit hit-and-miss, but there’s always this underlying hope for positive change. I guess it’s the allure of a fresh start that keeps me coming back.

Now, let’s be real for a moment. If you were to ask me about the success rate of my past “New Year Plans,” I’d have to confess, they’re a bit like my attempts at assembling IKEA furniture—full of good intentions but not always masterfully executed. 😂 But fear not, because every year brings new hope for improvement, no matter where you find yourself on life’s rollercoaster.

You see, New Year Resolutions may get a bad rap, and honestly, I’ve never been one for grand resolutions. I prefer to think of it as an opportunity to craft a plan for the upcoming year—a plan that’s more like a friendly guide than a rigid resolution that’s destined for disappointment. Who needs that kind of pressure, right?

So, how do I approach this annual opportunity for personal growth and positive change? Well, I take a moment to ponder on life—spiritually, physically, personally, and in the workplace. Am I satisfied? Sure, some areas are smooth sailing, but let’s face it, there are other corners that could use a bit of polishing.

There’s a subtle excitement and a quiet hope that tags along with the new year. Change is a daily possibility, but there’s something about the turn of the year that nudges me toward different decisions.

Looking for change? Here are 3 simple steps:

  • Identify Dissatisfaction: Grab a pen and paper, jot down those areas of life that could use a little extra TLC.
  • Tiny Changes, Big Impact: For each area of dissatisfaction, brainstorm 3 small changes or steps that can inject some positivity into those corners of your life.
  • Bring in the Cheerleaders: Accountability is key! Enlist the support of folks outside your inner circle to keep you on track. Because, let’s face it, we all need a friendly push now and then.

Here’s to a year filled with laughter, growth, and all the wonderful surprises life has in store. Happy New Year, my friends!
